The "INVADR": Ringbrothers' Stunning Grand National Build at SEMA 2024
Ring Brothers Grand National
At the 2024 SEMA Show, the Ringbrothers once again set the stage alight with their latest masterpiece, the 1987 Buick Grand National aptly named “INVADR.” This ambitious project took over 5,000 hours of meticulous work to transform Buick's iconic G-body into a modern marvel, combining timeless aesthetics with cutting-edge performance and engineering.
A Powerhouse Reimagined
Under the hood, the INVADR boasts an upgraded 3.8-liter V6 engine from Duttweiler Performance, fitted with twin 62mm Precision turbochargers. Tuned for daily driving, it generates an astounding 1,246 horsepower on E85 fuel, but the setup can deliver up to 2,000 horsepower at full boost. Complementing this beastly engine is a TREMEC T-56 Magnum six-speed manual transmission and a carbon-fiber driveshaft, ensuring both power and control.
Engineering Excellence
The car sits on a custom Roadster Shop FAST TRACK Stage III chassis, featuring a four-link rear suspension and Penske adjustable shocks for optimal handling. Braking is handled by Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, while a unique nitrogen-powered air-jack system provides rapid lift capabilities for wheel changes—a nod to motorsport-inspired functionality.
Signature Styling
Ringbrothers retained the Grand National’s angular charm but elevated it with modern touches. The car sports a BASF “Dark Vader Gray” finish, reshaped fenders, a custom carbon-fiber hood scoop, and stainless-steel bumpers with machined aluminum guards. The aggressive stance is completed by HRE 528-series wheels paired with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
Luxurious Interior
Inside, the INVADR combines retro inspiration with modern craftsmanship. Hand-stitched upholstery, a reconfigured dashboard, and a bespoke Ringbrothers steering wheel with a carbon-fiber hoop enhance both comfort and style. Dakota Digital instruments and Vintage Air climate control complete the high-end interior upgrades.
A New Standard in Custom Builds
The INVADR represents the pinnacle of what a restomod can be—a tribute to the Grand National's legacy, amplified with state-of-the-art technology and unparalleled attention to detail. According to Ringbrothers co-owner Mike Ring, the build was designed to be a perfect balance of "muscle and subtlety," making it as thrilling to drive as it is to admire.
